Suspended variable spring hangers carry piping that moves vertically with temperature — hung on a rod from the steel above, keeping support load within design limits across the travel range. Sized case by case from your load and movement data. Need the load carried from below instead? See variable spring supports.

Coil spring housed in a steel casing with load scale and travel indicator. Available in the standard arrangement types used on support drawings — hanger (top-suspended, this page), base-mounted type F, and trapeze arrangements — with turnbuckles, rods, clamps and building attachments supplied as complete assemblies.
This series uses a press-formed steel casing. Casing construction is one product attribute; it does not by itself establish service life, corrosion performance or long-term load accuracy. Review the specified finish, environment, spring characteristics and inspection documents for the selected unit.
For a welded-casing option, see Standard Spring Supports. Compare the approved arrangement, load and travel data for the actual tags rather than treating housing style as a substitute for technical verification.
| Item | Range / Detail |
|---|---|
| Design practice | MSS SP-58; project specs on request |
| Load range | ~0.2 kN to 100+ kN per support |
| Travel | Up to 50 mm (variable); larger — see constant hangers |
| Spring rate tolerance | ±5% |
| Material certs | EN 10204 3.1 on request |
Keep the support tag and drawing revision together. For this arrangement, check the upper attachment, rod connection and available headroom. Record unresolved inputs as open items rather than assuming dimensions from a photograph.
| Check | Information to compare |
|---|---|
| Load and movement | Operating load, cold-setting information, travel magnitude and direction from the controlling schedule |
| Installation interface | Connection dimensions and available installation space on the approved drawing |
| Selected unit | Product type and size, travel/load markings, and the tag-specific documentation required by the purchase order |
This is a buyer review workflow, not a completed test record. See the submittal checklist and downloadable review template, or prepare the installation information.

Send your hanger schedule (load case, hot/cold load, travel, elevation) or mark up loads on an isometric. We size each support, return a data sheet per tag, and quote as complete assemblies.

Hot load (operating load), cold load or travel with direction, pipe size and temperature, and the support elevation or available headroom. A hanger schedule or marked-up stress isometric is ideal — we size each support and return a data sheet per tag.
Yes. Variable spring hangers follow MSS SP-58 design practice, and we work to project specifications on request. Hanger, base-mounted (type F) and trapeze arrangements are available.
Red-oxide primer as standard, with epoxy systems or hot-dip galvanizing to project spec — HDG is common for GCC coastal and outdoor plant environments.
Yes. Each tag can be delivered as a complete assembly — spring unit plus turnbuckles, threaded rods, pipe clamps and building attachments — so site installation needs no additional sourcing.
A data sheet per support tag, dimensional and inspection reports, and EN 10204 3.1 material certificates on request, plus export packing documents.
